Akhil Gogoi Links Himanta to Sudden Cancellation of APSC CCE Results

MLA Akhil Gogoi alleges CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s link in APSC CCE 2024 result cancellation, claims political interference; APSC cites procedural error.

Akhil Gogoi Links Himanta to Sudden Cancellation of APSC CCE Results

Raijor Dal President Akhil Gogoi has alleged that the sudden cancellation of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 result is politically motivated and linked to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Addressing the media, the Raijor Dal chief stated that “Candidates favoured by the Chief Minister were left out of the list, and this has led to the sudden cancellation of the results. Such political interference harms the credibility of the recruitment process. We demand full transparency in the APSC review and re-selection exercise.”

This controversy comes on the back of ongoing concerns about irregularities in earlier APSC exams, including the cash-for-job scam in the 2013 and 2014 Combined Competitive Examinations.

Meanwhile, APSC cancelled the result just hours after its declaration on 16 February 2026, citing an “inadvertent error” in the final list. The commission announced that a fresh selection list would be issued after a thorough re-examination of the candidates and related records to ensure accuracy.

The issue has intensified political tensions in Assam ahead of the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections, sparking widespread debates on governance, transparency, and the importance of merit-based recruitment in public service.
