Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Assam on Wednesday triggered a political stir after his comments on expelling “Bangladeshis” and seeking five more years of mandate drew strong criticism from the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).

KMSS central general secretary Bidyut Saikia slammed Shah, alleging satirically  that the Home Minister keeps returning to Assam “to sell the same promise repeatedly,” comparing it to “selling the same Tenga Aaam (Unripe/ Green Mango) three times despite it being sold only once in the market.”

Saikia accused Shah of using the issue of illegal migration for political mileage instead of addressing the real concerns of indigenous communities. He added that the people of Assam are “exhausted” by repeated assurances that fail to translate into meaningful action.

Shah addressed a large public rally earlier in the day, where he reiterated the government's commitment to tackling illegal immigration and urged the public to grant the BJP another five-year term.
