Ajmal declared, "I have always stood with Rejaul Karim Sarkar. If he comes to our party (AIUDF), we will gladly accept and welcome him."

He further advised Sarkar to steer clear of joining what he described as "trivial" or "insignificant" political outfits, urging him to align with a more substantial platform.

Ajmal made these remarks amid speculation about Sarkar's political future following his recent controversial stint with the Congress party, from which he resigned after facing criticism over his statements on demographic issues in Assam.

Addressing the term "jihad" in the context of discussions around Sarkar, Ajmal said that jihad is a sacred and holy word in Islam.

He claimed that the word has been widely misinterpreted or misused, leading to misunderstandings, and insisted on its proper religious significance as a concept of struggle or striving in the path of faith.

The comments come at a time when political alignments in Assam's minority-dominated areas remain fluid ahead of upcoming local elections, with leaders from various parties, including former Congress and minority group figures, exploring options.
