GUWAHATI: A photograph of former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Borah was covered at the Congress headquarters, Rajiv Bhavan, in Guwahati on Thursday morning, hours after his defection from the party.

The photograph, displayed at the main entrance alongside portraits of other APCC leaders, was reportedly covered by Congress workers following the political development.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Guwahati, Assam on Thursday for a two-day organisational visit, during which she is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with party leaders and review the party’s strategy in the state.

According to the party’s official itinerary, Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to reach Rajiv Bhavan at 12:15 PM, followed by a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee at 12:45 PM. At 2:00 PM, she will proceed to the Manabendra Sharma Complex, where she will release the Congress charge sheet against the BJP-led Assam government, alleging corruption and governance failures.

At the same venue, Priyanka Gandhi will also hold a meeting with Congress block presidents. She is scheduled to return to Rajiv Bhavan later in the afternoon and meet district presidents at 5:00 PM.

In the evening, Priyanka Gandhi will hold individual meetings with 21 Congress MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, and interact with three Congress Members of Parliament. She will stay overnight at Taj Vivanta in Guwahati.

On Friday, Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to meet leaders of various party cells and organisational wings as part of the Congress party’s internal review and organisational restructuring exercise in Assam.
