"The Assam Book Fair, one of the state"s most significant literary events, will draw to a close today with a grand valedictory ceremony that will include the presentation of two prestigious awards.Advertisment The Assam Publication Board will honour eminent writer Dr. Dipak Kumar Barkakati with its coveted Literary Award in recognition of his contribution to Assamese literature. The Publisher"s Award will be presented to Bandhav Prakashan for its outstanding role in promoting quality publishing in the state. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu is scheduled to attend the concluding ceremony and present the honours to the awardees. Organisers have described this year"s fair as a major success, both culturally and commercially. During the 13-day event, books worth Rs 6.80 crore were sold, reflecting a strong public engagement with literature and reaffirming the enduring reading culture in Assam. The fair brought together leading authors, publishers, academics, and readers from across the state, hosting book launches, literary discussions, and cultural programmes throughout its run.
