Assam: Fake Ayurvedic doctor arrested in Dergaon

A 57-year-old man, Ranjit Chandra Sen, has been arrested by the Dergaon police for allegedly practicing Ayurvedic medicine without proper qualifications.

The Dergaon police have apprehended a 57-year-old man, Ranjit Chandra Sen, for posing as an Ayurvedic doctor. Sen was arrested near Dergaon Kamal Duwara College on Saturday.

According to reports, Sen had been working as an Ayurvedic doctor at Hazarika Ayurvedic institution since 2023, claiming to have obtained a certificate from a Kolkata-based Ayurvedic medical college. However, investigations revealed that the college had been banned by the Indian government in 2021.

Further probe revealed that Sen was not registered with the Assam Medical Council, a crucial requirement for practicing Ayurvedic medicine. The police have taken Sen into custody, and he is currently being held at the Dergaon police station.
