 Assam: Minor and Father Held After Youth Murdered in Golaghat

GUWAHATI: A youth was allegedly killed by his younger brother (minor by age) with the suspected involvement of the boy's father in Golaghat police said on Monday.

The incident occurred late at night near Athabari village at Mohal Chariali in the Golaghat district.

According to preliminary information, the accused minor allegedly attacked his cousin Raju Orang with a sharp weapon inside their residence courtyard. The body was hidden in a sack which was thrown into a bamboo grove in an attempt to conceal the crime. 

Blood stains scattered across the courtyard later indicated the suspected spot where the attack took place.

The local residents found the sack in the bamboo grove and they contacted the police about it. The police went to the location after receiving information and then they arrested the minor and his father Bobai Orang who were sleeping at their home.

Police found the 'dao' (machete) which they believe was used to commit the crime.

Police officials believe that a domestic dispute led to the incident.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and an investigation is currently underway.
