Authorities seized approximately 1,300 SIM cards, along with numerous Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other documents, many of which were registered under fake identities.These ghost SIMs were allegedly used to facilitate various cybercrimes, including communications for illegal activities.Acting on the Assam Police’s request, the Telecom Department deactivated 953 of the seized SIM cards, effectively shutting down the illicit communication channels to prevent further misuse.
