Assam Shocker: Principal Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault Minor Student

Guwahati: In a deeply disturbing incident that has shaken Sonitpur district, the principal of Missamari Higher Secondary School, Kanak Chandra Bordoloi, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor student within the school premises. The incident reportedly took place on the day of Saraswati Puja, a celebration traditionally associated with learning, purity, and reverence for the teacher and student bond.

According to police reports, the accused principal is alleged to have taken advantage of the festive environment to commit the assault. The matter came to light after the victim’s family and residents raised concerns, prompting the police to initiate immediate action. Missamari Police swiftly arrested Bordoloi under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A case (No. 10/26) has been formally registered against him under Sections 74 and 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 10 of the POCSO Act, which deals with aggravated sexual assault on a minor. Following his arrest, Bordoloi was produced before the Tezpur Court, where the judge remanded him to judicial custody.

The incident has sparked widespread anger across Sonitpur, with parents, teachers, and student organisations demanding a thorough investigation and strict punishment if the allegations are proven. Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued with utmost seriousness.
