Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Basistha, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia accused the Congress of diminishing the dignity and self-respect of India through its protest at the international event. The press conference was attended by Election Manifesto Committee Chief Convenor Pradan Baruah, General Secretary Anup Kumar Barman, and BJP state spokespersons Manas Sarania, Brojen Mahanta, and Dr Zafreen Mehjabin.

Saikia condemned the protest and said that, just as sages in ancient times performed yajnas for the welfare of humanity to dispel darkness and defeat evil forces, the AI summit was organised under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss global development, innovation, and the future of Generation Z. He alleged that while representatives from nearly 100 countries gathered to deliberate on global progress, the Congress acted like disruptive forces and attempted to obstruct and desecrate the initiative through what he termed uncivil and barbaric conduct.

He further accused the Congress of opposing the aspirations and creativity of the youth and of standing against India’s scientific and technological progress. Saikia said India has been striving to achieve global leadership in science, technology, and space research, and that the Modi government has elevated India’s stature across multiple sectors internationally. He alleged that the Congress has repeatedly displayed an anti-national and anti-youth character.

Referring to events such as Doklam, the surgical strike and air strike operations, Saikia said India has responded firmly to external aggression and strengthened national pride under the current government. He alleged that the protest at the AI summit was pre-planned and not spontaneous, claiming that while delegates from 100 countries, including heads of state from 40 nations and ministers from 60 countries, along with top AI industry executives, were engaged in discussions, the Congress leadership conspired to embarrass India on the global stage.

He claimed that the alleged conspiracy was planned at the residences of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and suggested that Gaurav Gogoi may also have been present. Saikia accused the Congress of consistently attempting to undermine India’s development and stability and of deriving satisfaction from portraying India negatively abroad.

He further alleged that under Rahul Gandhi’s direction, Youth Congress members carried out actions that brought shame to India internationally and trampled upon the aspirations of the nation’s youth. Citing historical references, he alleged that the Congress has repeatedly insulted Assam and the Northeast, referred to remarks against semiconductor industries in Assam, and revisited past events including the 1962 episode involving former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He also invoked the 1975 Emergency, alleging that the Congress has never apologised for what he described as an assault on democratic values.

Saikia said that maligning India before the world has become a habitual practice of the Congress and accused Rahul Gandhi of casting aspersions on India’s democracy and the valour of soldiers. He alleged that Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Gaurav Gogoi conspire against national interests. He said that on February 20, at the international AI summit, Congress workers allegedly acted in a manner that embarrassed India before representatives from more than 100 nations, heads of state, ministers and global corporate leaders, calling such actions anti-national.

Earlier in the day, the Assam Pradesh BJP Yuva Morcha, in coordination with the Assam Yuva Parishad, staged a protest in front of Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati against what they termed the anti-national actions of the Congress. During the protest, party workers burnt an effigy of Rahul Gandhi and raised slogans such as “Anti-national Rahul Gandhi Go Back,” “Down with Youth Congress,” and “Rahul Gandhi Murdabad.”

The Yuva Morcha leadership accused Rahul Gandhi of being a political broker who has tarnished India’s global image. They alleged that during the Congress-led government from 2004 to 2014, the future of the nation’s youth was pushed into uncertainty, while under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has hosted global AI summits and Indian youth talent has gained international recognition.

The Yuva Morcha president warned that Rahul Gandhi poses a threat to national unity, economic stability, defence integrity and sovereignty. The information was conveyed through a press statement issued by BJP Assam spokesperson Pranjal Kalita from the party’s state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan.
