BTC Elections: 71.62% Turnout Recorded by 4:30 PM

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections in Assam's Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) have witnessed robust participation, with voter turnout reaching an impressive 71.62% as of 4:30 p.m.

Polling, which commenced at 7:30 a.m. across 3,359 stations in the five districts—Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur, and Udalguri—will conclude at 4:00 p.m., though voting continues for those in queues.

The district-wise breakdown highlights strong engagement in Kokrajhar and Chirang, underscoring the region's keen interest in shaping the future of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Officials reported smooth proceedings under tight security, with no major incidents marring the democratic exercise.

With over 2.65 million eligible voters, including more than 1.33 million women, the high turnout reflects the stakes in this fiercely contested poll. The ruling United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL), in coalition with the BJP and GSP, faces a strong challenge from the Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) and others. Votes are set to be counted on September 26.
