Speaking to reporters at the state BJP office, Saikia addressed the claims around Sharma's past involvement.

"I recall he might have associated with the BJP Yuva Morcha a few years back," Saikia remarked. "However, I've never encountered him personally, and today, he occupies no role in the BJP—not even as a primary member."

On queries regarding the claims levelled against Sharma, Saikia stressed that the party would never protect wrongdoers. "These are grave charges, and the probe continues," he emphasised.

He said, "Justice must be served for Zubeen Garg's loved ones. No matter their affiliations, the guilty will confront the full force of the law."

Turning to politics, Saikia extended congratulations to Bodoland People's Front (BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary for his strong showing in the recent Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) polls. He pointed out that although the BJP advanced by clinching five seats in Darrang-Udalguri, it fell short in others by slim margins.

"We were defeated in certain areas by only 200 to 300 votes," Saikia observed, partly blaming the abrupt halt in campaign activities due to Garg's untimely passing. Nevertheless, he underscored the BJP's rising vote percentage in the area over prior elections, calling it evidence of the party's "growing influence" in the BTR.
