The 46-year-old endurance athlete battled strong currents, schools of large fish, countless jellyfish stings, and even swam alongside dolphins during parts of the marathon journey that required him to fight against the tide on several stretches.

“It was an extremely tiring swim, but with years of hard work and all the love and support you have showered on me, I finally did it,” an elated Elvis said after touching the finish point.

He dedicated the historic feat to Assam’s cultural icon and singer-actor Zubeen Garg. “This event was very close to my heart because I dedicated it to our beloved Zubeen da,” he added.

Despite being 46, Elvis continues to push boundaries for Assam on the national and international stage. “I may be 46 now, but I’m still trying my best to bring glory to my Assam,” he said, urging everyone to spread the good news.

Elvis Ali Hazarika, already a Limca Record holder and recipient of the Vikram Award (Assam’s highest sports honour), has previously swum across the English Channel, Catalina Channel, and completed multiple Brahmaputra and Bhagirathi river swims. This latest achievement adds another glittering chapter to his remarkable journey.

Assam erupts in pride as messages pour in from sports lovers, artists, and well-wishers, with many hailing him as the “Pride of Assam”.
