With the electoral season approaching, the government has opted against presenting a full state budget. Instead, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is preparing to place a Vote-on-Account before the House to secure approval for essential expenditure in the early months of the next financial year.

The interim financial proposal will provide for government spending from April to July, ensuring continuity in administrative functioning and ongoing development programmes until a new government assumes office and presents a comprehensive budget after the polls.

Alongside financial business, the Assembly is also engaged in discussions on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address. Members from both ruling and opposition benches are taking part in the debate, raising policy concerns, governance issues and political priorities in the run-up to the elections.

Before the Vote-on-Account is formally introduced, several legislators are also using the session to highlight urgent public matters and constituency concerns, making the proceedings closely watched across the state at a crucial political moment.
