Guwahati: Hours after the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) launched a website aimed at flagging alleged corruption involving Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the party claimed that attempts were made to sabotage the platform through technical interference.

The website, whoishbs.com, was unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday to place in the public domain information related to the Chief Minister’s alleged land holdings and other purported irregularities. According to the APCC, soon after the launch, a “vested interest group” tried to disrupt the website’s functioning, briefly affecting access and slowing the dissemination of information.

Congress leaders said their technical team moved quickly to secure the platform and prevent any unauthorised control. The party maintained that safeguards are now in place and that the website will be fully accessible shortly.

The APCC said the portal is designed not only to publish details of properties allegedly held by the Chief Minister and his family — including benami assets — but also to allow citizens to independently upload information related to alleged scams. In addition, the party has released a dedicated phone number, 9133400200, through which members of the public can share information regarding undisclosed assets and alleged corruption.

Furthermore, the Congress alleged that in recent days certain groups have been running coordinated misinformation campaigns on social media against party leaders, including APCC president Gaurav Gogoi and Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress president Mira Borthakur. These campaigns, the party claimed, involved the misuse of logos of well-known news channels and digital portals to lend credibility to false narratives.

The APCC said it would continue to pursue what it described as transparency and public accountability, despite attempts to derail its initiatives.
