Inside Boko Office in Assam: How Form 7 Allegedly Became a Tool for Vote Manipulation

Raijor Dal chief and Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Friday has alleged serious electoral malpractice, claiming that BJP leaders were caught red-handed manipulating the voter list at the Boko Sub-Divisional Office in Kamrup district.

According to the allegations, on January 22, 2026, BJP leaders were allegedly carrying out Form 7 procedures inside the government office at around 8:30 pm, illegally deleting names of valid voters and facilitating the inclusion of ineligible voters.

Local journalists, acting on a tip-off, reached the office and reportedly found BJP leaders using government computers to tamper with the electoral rolls.

The BJP leaders named in the incident are:

•    Prahlad Biswas, General Secretary, South Kamrup Zila; ZPC Member, Chamaria Block
•    Mrinmoy Boro, Secretary, South Kamrup District
•    Buddheswar Rabha, General Secretary, South Kamrup District ST Morcha

Meanwhile, taking to Facebook, Gogoi expressed outrage, calling the incident “terrifying” and a direct assault on democracy. In his post, he alleged that BJP leaders entered the Boko Sub-Divisional Office at night and themselves carried out Election Commission-related work, including deleting names from the voter list and obstructing the inclusion of legitimate voters.

“This is horrifying. The BJP has entered the Boko Sub-Divisional Office. At 8:30 pm, BJP leaders carried out Form 7 work on their own—deleting names of voters and blocking others from being added. The country is finished, democracy is finished. Vote thieves have looted the temple of democracy,” Gogoi wrote.

He further accused the ruling party of destroying democratic institutions under the patronage of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, urging the public to witness what he described as a blatant subversion of the electoral process.

It may be mentioned that the incident has sparked sharp political reactions across the state, with opposition leaders demanding an independent probe and strict action against those involved, calling it a grave threat to free and fair elections.
