Leopard Attacks Three-Year-Old Girl in Guwahati; Local Residents Rescue Child

In a terrifying daytime incident, a three-year-old girl was attacked by a leopard in the hilly, densely populated area of Gotanagar in Guwahati's Maligaon on Friday.

The wild animal reportedly targeted the child while she was playing, inflicting serious injuries to her face and abdomen.

Alerted by the child’s cries, local residents rushed to the scene and managed to drive the leopard away, saving her from further harm. The injured girl was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

The attack has created widespread panic among the residents of the area. Despite the severity of the incident, officials from the Forest Department and local administration have not yet responded or taken action.

The forest officials are yet to confirm whether measures will be taken to prevent further incidents in the area, which is known for occasional leopard sightings.
