Massive reshuffle in Assam Police: 36 Officers transferred across the state

The Assam Government has undertaken a major administrative revamp, ordering a large-scale transfer of 36 senior police officers, including several SSPs and DCPs.

In a major administrative overhaul following the Baksa violence, the Assam Government has ordered a large-scale reshuffle in the state police department, transferring 36 senior police officers, including several Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).

The reshuffle, which comes as part of a routine exercise to streamline police operations and strengthen law and order across districts, affects key positions in almost every major district of the state.

Partha Pratim Das, the SSP of Sivasagar, has been transferred to Cachar, while Leena Doley will once again assume charge as SSP of Sivasagar. Debasish Bora has been appointed as the new SSP of Dhubri. Nomal Mahatta, the current SSP of Cachar, has been transferred as the new SSP of Kokrajhar, replacing Pushparaj Singh, who has been moved to Karbi Anglong.

Sanjeev Kumar Saikia, the SSP of Karbi Anglong, has been transferred to Kamrup, while Shubhrajyoti Bora, will now serve as the SSP of Jorhat, taking over from Shwetank Mishra, who has been shifted to the 4th Battalion with additional charge as SSP (R&AC), Special Branch.

Mayank Kumar, the SSP of Dima Hasao, has been transferred to Tinsukia, and Ripunjay Kakoti will replace him as the new SSP of Dima Hasao. Subashish Baruah, the SSP of Biswanath, has been appointed as the new SSP of Sivasagar. E. Basumatary will now serve as SSP of Biswanath, and Suman Chakravarty will take over as SSP of Bajali.

Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, the SSP of Tinsukia, has been transferred to Dibrugarh, while V. V. R. Reddy moves to Hojai from Dibrugarh. Saurav Gupta has been transferred from Hojai to Dergaon as Assistant Inspector General (AIG). Vivekananda Das has been moved from Majuli to Nalbari, and Hemanta Kumar Das from Morigaon has been given charge of Darrang. Prakash Sonowal has been transferred from Darrang to Morigaon.

Haren Tokbi will move from South Salmara to Majuli, with Singharam Mili taking over as the new SSP of South Salmara. Taburam Pegu has been appointed as the new SSP of Tamulpur, and Anjan Pandit will serve as SSP of Sadiya. Bolin Deuri has been transferred to West Karbi Anglong.

In the Guwahati Police Commissionerate, Mrs. Sambhabi Mishra has been appointed as DCP, Guwahati Central, while Amitabh Basumatary will now serve as DCP, Guwahati East. This major reshuffle is expected to bring new energy and direction to the Assam Police as the force continues its efforts to maintain law and order and improve administrative efficiency across the state.
