Super-speciality hospital by Medanta to boost Northeast's healthcare coming up in Guwahati

Guwahati: Global Health Limited, operating under the Medanta brand, has announced plans to establish a cutting-edge 400+ bed multi-super-speciality hospital in Guwahati, Assam, marking a significant leap in delivering advanced tertiary and quaternary care to Northeast India.

Located at Industrial Estate, Sarusajai, along National Highway 27, the facility represents a ₹500-crore investment aimed at bridging critical healthcare gaps in the region.

Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta and recipient of Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, and Dr. B.C. Roy National Award stated: “The Northeast has long lacked access to world-class medical services. This hospital reaffirms our belief that quality healthcare is a fundamental right. The new hospital will feature comprehensive super-speciality services, including:
- Full-spectrum organ transplant programs (kidney, liver, lung, heart, bone marrow, and robotic-assisted)
- Advanced cardiology and pediatric cardiac surgery
- Neurology, neurosurgery, and interventional neurology
- Orthopaedics and robotic joint replacement
- Medical, surgical, and radiation oncology
- Gastroenterology and GI surgery
- Nephrology, urology, and robotic urologic procedures
- Respiratory medicine and interventional pulmonology
- ENT, head & neck oncology
- Plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgery
- Endocrinology, critical care, trauma, ophthalmology, and maxillofacial surgery

Currently operating six hospitals across Gurgaon, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, Patna, and Noida—with over 3,300 installed beds across 5.5 million sq. ft.—Medanta is also developing additional facilities in Mumbai (Oshiwara), Delhi (Pitampura), and Greater Kailash, adding over 2,000 beds in the pipeline.

The Guwahati project is expected to create 5,000–7,000 direct and indirect jobs, spurring economic growth through roles in clinical care, administration, technology, and support services.
