Speaking on the matter, Sarma said that those responsible for the Delhi blast were the same elements “who plant bombs even at the Red Fort and were behind the Pahalgam incident.” He claimed that such groups pose an ongoing threat to national security, adding, “Sometimes they attack us with bombs and bullets, sometimes by encroaching on our land.”

Referring to incidents in Assam, the Chief Minister remarked, “They are the same people who protest even at Zubeen’s place, saying they don’t need rice or lentils. All of them are the same people.”

Cautioning that Assam must remain on guard, Sarma said, “The people of Assam must remain cautious for a long time. Their percentage is quite high in our state. If anything happens here, it will be on a much larger scale.”

Sarma also reiterated his earlier statements made in the state Assembly, noting that while many extremists in the past were “uneducated” and easily gets exploited; the recent Delhi incident marks a worrying shift. “The Delhi blast was jihad carried out by educated people,” he said. “Earlier, it was believed that educated people couldn’t become terrorists. But now, even those with higher education are making bombs.”

Concluding his remarks, Sarma stated emphatically, “Those who refuse to sing Vande Mataram can never be true Indians.”
The Chief Minister’s comments come amid heightened national security concerns following the Delhi blast, which has prompted intensified investigations and vigilance across several states, including Assam.
