A tense situation unfolded outside Baksa Jail today after locals and supporters of popular singer Zubeen Garg allegedly attacked a police convoy carrying Siddharth and Shyamkanu.

Following the expiration of their SIT custody, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddhartha Sharma have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody at Baksa jail.

According to reports, hundreds of Zubeen fans gathered in front of the jail premise, staging a protest demanding justice for their idol. The protest soon turned violent as the mob began pelting stones at the police convoy escorting the two accused.

In the ensuing chaos, clashes broke out between the police and the protesters, leaving several injured on both sides. Security personnel resorted to crowd control measures to bring the situation under control.

Eyewitnesses said that the situation quickly escalated, with agitators refusing to leave despite repeated warnings. The atmosphere outside the jail remains highly charged, and additional forces have been deployed to prevent further violence.

Authorities have appealed to the public to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands as tensed situation continue around Baksa Jail.
