His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, overcome with grief, was seen weeping beside the coffin, tenderly draping a traditional gamusa over it as a final gesture of reverence.

Her emotional farewell, calling him by his affectionate nickname ‘Goldie,’ touched the hearts of all who witnessed the scene, reflecting the deep personal loss amid the state’s collective mourning.

The coffin, carrying Assam’s cultural icon, began its solemn journey from the airport to Garg’s residence in Kahilipara, moving slowly through a sea of thousands of grieving fans.

The procession was met with an outpouring of love and respect, as mourners lined the streets, holding flowers, placards, and chanting Zubeen’s name in heartfelt tribute. The slow-moving vehicle, surrounded by supporters from all walks of life, created a deeply moving spectacle of unity and sorrow.

Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains will be taken to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, where fans and admirers gathered to pay their final respects to the musical maestro who shaped an era in Assam’s cultural history.

Zubeen passed away on September 19 after a reported diving incident. Although there were attempts to save him using CPR and all other possible means, he passed away in the ICU.
