Assam: 11-Year-Old Karate Prodigy dedicates Gold Medal to Zubeen Garg, seeks justice

In a heartwarming gesture, 11-year-old Haripriya Dihingia, a karate prodigy from Lahowal in Dibrugarh district of Assam, has dedicated her gold medal to renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Haripriya won the gold medal in the 9th edition of Northeast Karate Championship 2025 held in Aizawl, Mizoram.

The young athlete's achievement has brought pride to her family, community, and the state of Assam. However, Haripriya's joy was overshadowed by the tragic and untimely death of Zubeen Garg, to whom she has dedicated her medal. She seeks justice for the legendary singer's untimely demise.

Haripriya's parents, Aparajita Dihingia and Kiran Dihingia, expressed their pride and gratitude towards their daughter's achievement. "We are overjoyed by Haripriya's success, and her gesture of dedicating the medal to Zubeen Garg proves her love for the singer," they said.
