Following his disappearance, Pal reportedly moved from Kolkata to Guwahati before finally hiding out at Pakeeza Lodge in Dibrugarh’s Paltan Bazar for the past three months. During this time, he allegedly posed as a Jio employee to conceal his identity.Investigations revealed that Pal had launched a trading application, through which he collected money from several investors with the false promise of doubling their returns. When he failed to repay the funds, multiple complaints were filed against him.On Tuesday, a joint operation by the Odisha Police, with assistance from Barbari Police, led to Pal’s arrest at the lodge. However, shortly after being taken to the police station, he allegedly broke a piece of glass and slit his own throat in a desperate act.Pal was immediately rushed to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), where he is currently receiving treatment at the casualty department.Authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the fraud and the circumstances surrounding the suicide attempt is underway.
