Almost 29 years after the original Border touched hearts across the country, its much-awaited sequel Border 2 is set to release tomorrow. The film carries strong emotions, memories of the original, and high expectations from audiences all over India.

Background: 

Set during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Border 2 tells a bigger story this time. Instead of focusing on just one battlefield, the film shows how the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy stood together during one of the most difficult times in the country’s history.

The film brings forward untold stories of bravery, sacrifice, and love for the nation. With a runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, Border2 promises a complete big-screen experience. The excitement around the film increased after the release of its title track ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, which connected strongly with audiences online.

Border: 

The original Border, released in 1997 and directed by J.P. Dutta, starred Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna. Made on a budget of around Rs 12 crore, the film became a major box-office hit and is still remembered for its powerful war scenes and emotional moments.

Border 2's Cast & Characters:  

In Border2, the makers mix familiar faces with fresh talent.

  • Sunny Deol returns as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, a character closely linked to the first film.
  • Varun Dhawan plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra awardee 
  • Diljit Dosanjh is seen as Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon of the Indian Air Force, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for defending the Srinagar Air Base.
  • Ahan Shetty plays Lt Cdr M. S. Rawat from the Indian Navy.

The supporting cast includes Mona Singh as Fateh Singh Kaler’s wife, Medha Rana alongside Varun Dhawan, and Sonam Bajwa, who is expected to share screen space with Diljit Dosanjh. In real life, Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was unmarried and is survived by his sister, Inderjit Boparai.

Advance Bookings:

Bookings suggest a strong start. Within 24 hours, 'Border 2' crossed Rs. 2.5 crore in pre-sales on its first day, selling over 73,000 tickets across 11,000 shows. The film is also expected to be released in Dolby and 4DX formats, which are also expected to help boost its box office total.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the film brings forward untold stories of bravery, sacrifice, and love for the nation. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. It is made under the banners of T-Series Films and JP Films, continuing the legacy of one of Bollywood’s most iconic patriotic franchises.
