The university's student union, PGSU, has taken serious note of the issue, with Vice President Siddharth Shankar Hazarika demanding clarification from the university authorities. "The university's reputation and dignity are at stake," Hazarika said, urging the authorities to take the matter seriously and respond to the allegations.

"We are here to get a degree and get employed. But if things like this keep happening and the reputation of our University gets compromised, it will be harmful for all of us," Hazarika said. He demanded that the person who made the allegations be given a suitable response and called for an investigation by the Assam government if the allegations are true.

The controversy surrounds the appointment of five candidates to five different posts at the university, out of around 242 candidates who appeared for the written examination in April this year. The Vice President has also urged the Vice-Chancellor to clarify the situation, as their name has been implicated in the scandal.

The development has sent shockwaves across the campus, with students and faculty members demanding transparency and accountability from the university authorities. The outcome of the investigation, if any, is awaited.
