Spread over seven acres at Sonapur, Kamrup Metro, the upcoming facility will feature a 200-bed inpatient ward with climate-controlled kennels, modular operating theatres with laparoscopic and orthopedic units, an in-house CT scanner, digital X-ray facilities, and an ICU for critical cases. A dedicated wildlife rescue wing will operate in collaboration with the Assam Forest Department, while a 24×7 ambulance network will cover Guwahati and surrounding districts.

Nandini Baruah, Assistant General Secretary and Head of the Animal Department, is currently supervising on-site work, including boundary demarcation and soil testing. Working President Soundaryya Yogi and General Secretary Arunabh Hazarika are holding daily review meetings with officials to ensure timely and efficient execution of the project.

“The establishment of this facility marks a major step forward for animal welfare and veterinary services in the Northeast,” said a senior official of the Foundation.

Once operational, the hospital and rescue centre are expected to set new benchmarks in animal care, providing advanced medical treatment for pets and wildlife alike, and strengthening rescue operations across Assam.
