GUWAHATI: An 18-member tourist group from Duliajan in Assam has been stranded in Dubai after flights were cancelled in the wake of heightened tensions following reported Iranian attacks.

The group was scheduled to return to India on Tuesday. However, officials in Dubai suspended flights as a precautionary measure amid the evolving security situation, forcing the Indian tourists to remain in their hotel.

According to members of the group, they were visiting the iconic Burj Khalifa just a day before the reported attack occurred. They said the situation escalated shortly thereafter, leading to disruptions in air travel.

The Assam-based tourists include noted educationist Mrinali Bhuyan Bordoloi, former engineer of Oil India Limited Dilip Bordoloi, businessman Chaitanya Dutta, and former Oil workers’ leader Upendra Dutta, among several other residents of Duliajan.

The group has confirmed that all members are currently safe and staying at a hotel in Dubai. They are in touch with relevant authorities and awaiting further updates on flight resumption.

No injuries have been reported, and the situation is being closely monitored.
