A devastating attack has struck Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, with Russia launching a record-breaking 805 drones and 13 missiles on Ukrainian cities. The assault has damaged a government building in central Kyiv, setting it on fire, and hit residential areas, resulting in the deaths of two people, including a one-year-old child.

The government building, which houses Ukraine's cabinet, suffered significant damage, with the roof and upper floors affected. This incident marks the first time the building has been hit by an enemy attack, highlighting the severity of the assault. Residential buildings in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts were also struck by Russian drone debris.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed the damage, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. This attack signifies a potential escalation in the over three-year war, as Vladimir Putin's forces have largely avoided targeting government buildings in Kyiv's historic center until now. Notably, this is the second mass drone and missile attack on Kyiv in two weeks, contradicting Putin's claims of seeking a peaceful resolution.

The international community is closely watching the developments, with US President Donald Trump reportedly expressing growing doubts about ending the conflict in Ukraine. Sources close to him describe Trump as increasingly "pessimistic" about the prospect of peace, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the conflict's resolution.
