Noreen Niazi, one of jailed former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters, has issued a stark warning that any attempt to physically harm the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder would plunge the country into chaos due to his massive public support.

Describing Khan as “completely healthy,” Noreen stressed that millions of supporters are eagerly awaiting any sign of him and would not tolerate violence against him. “They should not even think of physically harming Imran Khan — that is an absolute red line. If anything happens to him, the country will descend into chaos because the people stand firmly behind him,” she told a private television channel.

She accused officials of deliberately spreading false rumours about Khan’s deteriorating health to unsettle his followers and dismissed such claims as baseless propaganda.

Noreen also condemned the prolonged solitary confinement imposed on her brother, stating that jail rules permit isolation for no more than four days. Khan, she said, has been kept in complete isolation for nearly a month — a practice she described as “mental and physical torture” and a clear violation of prison regulations.

According to her, family members are being denied access to Khan because the authorities fear he will send political messages to the public. “They don’t want his voice to reach the people,” she alleged.

The remarks come days after General Asim Munir took oath as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), a newly created position that significantly expands the military’s formal authority. When asked about Munir, Noreen said: “He may consider himself all-powerful, but in our faith, no one is above Allah.”

Despite her strong criticism of the current system, she expressed hope that the judiciary would eventually deliver justice. “The justice system has collapsed, but we will keep fighting for Imran Khan’s rights, and Inshallah he will get justice,” she added.

In a related development, Khan’s other sister, Aleema Khan, has filed a contempt-of-court petition against the Adiala Jail superintendent and other officials for repeatedly violating an Islamabad High Court order that mandates twice-weekly family meetings with the PTI leader.

On Wednesday, Adiala Jail authorities reiterated that Imran Khan remains in the facility and is in “good health.” The former premier has been incarcerated since August 2023 and is facing multiple corruption and terrorism-related cases following his removal from office through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.
