Reports have emerged of Indian nationals being lured into the Russian military and deployed to the front lines, prompting the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to take swift action.AdvertismentMEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the government has taken up the matter with Russian authorities, both in Delhi and Moscow, urging them to cease the recruitment practice and release Indian citizens who have been inducted into the Russian army. The MEA is also in touch with the families of affected Indian citizens, providing support and assistance. This warning follows a series of advisories issued by the government earlier, cautioning Indians against fraudulent job offers linked to the conflict. These offers often promise lucrative employment opportunities, but in reality, they lure unsuspecting individuals into joining the Russian military, putting their lives at risk. The MEA had previously informed Parliament that 127 Indians had joined the Russian armed forces. However, after sustained diplomatic efforts, including discussions at the highest levels, 98 Indians were discharged from the Russian army. Unfortunately, 13 Indian nationals remained in the Russian army at the time, with 12 reported missing. The Indian government has repeatedly emphasized the risks associated with joining the Russian army, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The MEA has urged citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid any offers that may seem too good to be true.In light of these developments, the Indian government once again strongly advises its citizens to steer clear of any opportunities to join the Russian army. The safety and well-being of Indian nationals remain the government's top priority, and it will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens. Read the Next Article
