On Monday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it was responsible of the missile volleys fired at the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as the office of the Israeli air force commander.

The IRGC, via its Public Relations Department, and the Iranian media reported that the attacks employed Kheybar Shekan ballistic missiles and were part of its 10th wave of operation. It characterized the strikes as being premeditated ambushes on the top Israeli leadership.

The report was released before Israeli authorities had given a formal reaction. The Times of Israel, nevertheless, reported that no injuries came up because of the strikes.

This assertion follows a severe upsurge following the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a united U.S.Israeli attack on February 28. The government of Iran reported the operation that was named by the Israelis as Operation Lion Roar and by the Americans as Operation Epic Fury, had occurred at a critical stage of nuclear negotiations, and threatened to revenge.

On Monday, Tehran also experienced attacks on several targets in the Gulf-region, and it alleges it had cleared an F15 American jet in Kuwait. There was no independent verification of such assertions.

The speculations on social media were that Netanyahu had fled Israel following the strikes with some posts indicating that he was in Germany. Subsequent reports were rejected with the Prime Minister office claiming that Netanyahu held a meeting with the Defence Minister, Chief of Staff, and the head of Mossad on Sunday in Tel Aviv.

The attacks were also justified by the authorities of Iran as a direct response to the assassination of Khamenei, retaliation was a right and an obligation. Before the escalation, Tehran warned Washington that any military attack on Iran would trigger attack on Israel and create instability in the area, and warned of foreign interference in U.S. talks with Iran.
