The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a targeted airstrike on facilities in southern Lebanon, where they allege Hezbollah was storing equipment to rebuild its militant networks.

According to an IDF statement posted on X, the operation, led by the Northern Command and executed by the Air Force, hit infrastructure containing engineering tools used to restore Hezbollah’s terror network in the region.

The IDF accused Hezbollah of persistently attempting to reconstruct its terrorist infrastructure across Lebanon, exploiting civilian areas and using Lebanese residents as human shields. The statement emphasised that Hezbollah’s activities and the presence of these tools violate agreements between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF vowed to continue operations to safeguard Israel’s security.

Social media footage reportedly captured the strike, showing a cloud of orange smoke rising from the targeted area. According to Al Jazeera, Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV broadcast images of a significant explosion in al-Najariyah, a village in Lebanon’s Sidon district. The outlet reported that the attack struck an exhibition site for bulldozers and excavators, resulting in at least one fatality and two injuries in what was described as a series of intense airstrikes.

In a related development, a Lebanese judicial official, speaking anonymously to news agencies, revealed that 32 individuals have been detained in recent months for allegedly supplying Israel with intelligence on Hezbollah, aiding strikes against the Iran-backed group.

Six of these arrests occurred before a November ceasefire. The conflict, marked by over a year of hostilities and two months of intense warfare, saw Israel target Hezbollah’s weapons stockpiles and eliminate several high-ranking commanders. Despite the truce, Israel has continued strikes, accusing Hezbollah of breaching the agreement.
