Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, Trump described the ongoing controversy surrounding Epstein as an attempt to divert attention from the Republican Party's achievements. "This whole Epstein matter is being used to deflect from the tremendous success the Republican Party has had," he said.

Trump's comments came in response to questions about former President Bill Clinton, who appeared prominently in the initial batch of photos released by the Justice Department starting Friday. "I like Bill Clinton. I've always gotten along with him, and I hate seeing these photos of him come out," Trump remarked. He acknowledged that photos of himself with Epstein also exist, adding, "Everybody was friendly with this guy back then."

The president emphasized that many high-profile figures, including respected bankers, lawyers, and others, may appear in the images simply because they attended social events where Epstein was present. "It's a terrible thing," Trump said of the releases. "Bill Clinton is a big boy and can handle it, but for others who innocently met Epstein years ago and had nothing to do with his activities, having a photo surface can ruin a reputation."

Trump noted widespread frustration over the disclosures, stating that "a lot of people, including many Republicans, are very angry" about the potential harm to innocent individuals.

Epstein, a convicted sex offender and wealthy financier with extensive connections in elite circles, died by suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 while facing federal sex-trafficking charges.
