Cho La is renowned for the 1967 clashes between Indian and Chinese forces. These high-altitude spots, with their dramatic landscapes and rugged terrain, will provide tourists with a blend of natural splendour and insights into India's border history. To facilitate safe and comfortable visits, the state is accelerating developments such as improved roads, signage, safety features, and basic amenities. Rao has assured that all essential works will be completed promptly.Sikkim, already popular among nature enthusiasts, trekkers, and adventure travellers for its pristine mountains and biodiversity, will gain a new attraction with this initiative. Battlefield tourism is anticipated to draw history buffs and those interested in military heritage, expanding the state's appeal. The new sites will integrate seamlessly with existing routes, allowing visitors to combine trips to nearby attractions like Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, and Yumthang Valley, potentially increasing tourist traffic to underrepresented areas.Emphasising sustainability, given Sikkim's eco-sensitive high-altitude environment, the government plans to enforce measures to minimise ecological impact while promoting responsible tourism. The openings are expected to generate employment and economic growth for local communities through opportunities in hospitality, guiding, transportation, and handicrafts. This could spur broader development in the tourism industry, attracting more domestic and international travellers. Also Read: “Agla janam ho toh Assam mein ho…” — When Sonu Nigam spoke from the heart, remembering Zubeen Garg and AssamAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
