"The need for a new MPCC president was part of the conversation. However, the final call rests solely with the AICC," he stated, echoing Pala's position that state units lack authority over such appointments.Dismissing notions of factionalism, Syiem emphasised unity within the Congress. "This is not about personal ambition. In the Congress family, leadership roles are interchangeable—whether it's an elder, a peer, or a junior member.
