The other suspects in the case are Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi.

All of them are accused of the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Sohra on May 23, who visited the state with his wife and key accused Sonam Raghuvanshi.

On Friday, Special Prosecutor KC Gautam revealed that the Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Sohra had previously rejected Sonam Raghuvanshi’s bail application on September 23.

Sonam’s legal team argued that the police chargesheet was incomplete, but the court disagreed, deeming the chargesheet valid and dismissing the bail plea. The case was subsequently transferred to the District and Sessions Court in Shillong.

Gautam further noted that all five accused—Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—appeared before the District and Sessions Court on Thursday. The court scheduled the next hearing for October 10, when charges will be formally framed against the suspects.

It may be mentioned that Sonam, along with the others, allegedly murdered Raja in Sohra over an alleged extra-marital affair.
