In a pointed critique, VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh depicted the National People's Party (NPP)-dominated government as transforming Meghalaya into a realm riddled with enigmas, marked by rampant graft, disorder, and evasion of responsibility. "We urge MDA assembly members retaining even a shred of integrity to prioritise public good by ousting this regime and allowing the electorate to select a fresh alternative," Myrboh declared, stressing the pressing requirement for leadership change.

He spotlighted the baffling vanishing of coal stocks as emblematic of unchecked anarchy, entrenched malfeasance, and zero oversight. Myrboh challenged the regime's inability to shield state assets despite commanding full authority over enforcement mechanisms.

Drawing a direct correlation between the NPP's growth and the magnitude of wrongdoing, he branded the party as Meghalaya's most venal in its annals, unlikely to be eclipsed by any successor. The administration also stands faulted for neglecting public security, fostering tranquillity at inter-state frontiers, and stifling proliferating unlawful operations.

"The enigma surrounding missing coal represents merely one facet of the multitude of issues spawned by this leadership," Myrboh said.
