In a significant breakthrough, the police have uncovered a major fake currency racket in Barghuli, Kaliabor, and arrested one person in connection with the case. The accused, identified as Mujibur Rahman, was apprehended during a raid at his residence on Wednesday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Officer-in-Charge Haren Gogoi and Assistant Sub-Inspector Mridul Nath conducted the raid and seized fake currency worth Rs 1.20 crore from Rahman's possession. The fake notes, in denominations of Rs 500, were found in 240 bundles.

During the raid, the police also seized three HP color printing machines and a large quantity of paper used for printing notes, indicating that the accused had been printing fake currency from his residence.

Rahman confessed to the police that a major fake currency racket had been operating from his residence for the past four days, printing fake notes. The police have registered a case against the accused and are conducting further investigation into the matter.

The police are likely to interrogate Rahman to gather more information about the racket.The seizure of such a large amount of fake currency has sent shockwaves in the area, and the police are working to identify the masterminds behind the racket.
