"A major eviction operation is set to begin on Saturday morning in Assam, as the district administration prepares to clear large-scale encroachments in the Lutumari forest area under Kampur in Nagaon district.Advertisment According to officials, the Nagaon administration has completed all preparations for the extensive drive, which will cover nearly 795 hectares of forest land under the Kampur Forest Division. The operation is expected to be one of the largest eviction exercises carried out in the district in recent times. Authorities plan to remove 2,070 makeshift houses along with 192 concrete structures that have been constructed illegally on the forest land. In anticipation of the eviction, around 1,100 families have reportedly dismantled their own houses voluntarily. To ensure safety and smooth execution, the administration has deployed health department staff and arranged fire brigade vehicles at the site. Additional security and support teams are also being stationed in the area. Nagaon Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the encroachers through loudspeaker announcements, urging them to vacate the land immediately and cooperate with the eviction process. The administration has stated that the eviction drive aims to reclaim forest land and prevent further encroachment in the region.
