Assam: Nagaon battles African Swine Fever

In response to the recent outbreak of African Swine Fever in Barhampur, Nagaon district administration has taken swift action to contain the spread of the disease. According to reports, over a hundred pigs have succumbed to the fever, leaving pig farmers in distress.

To prevent further spread, the administration has imposed restrictions on the sale of pork and live pigs within a 1-kilometer radius of affected areas. The animal husbandry department has been actively involved in distributing medicines door-to-door to pig farmers, providing crucial support to those affected.

However, despite these efforts, some vendors have been accused of violating the directives by continuing to sell pork. The animal husbandry department has taken note of these violations and is likely to take further action.
