Sources said the raids were triggered after three doctors employed at the university’s medical college emerged as prime suspects in last month’s deadly car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 13 lives. The central agency is acting on directions from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to scrutinise the institution’s funding sources. A full forensic audit of the university’s accounts has been ordered, while the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered cases and joined the investigation. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is handling the Red Fort blast case, has already established that:- Dr Umar, the suicide bomber who died in the explosion, was a faculty member at Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences.- Dr Shaheen, another doctor at the same institution, was arrested after assault rifles and ammunition were recovered from her car.- Dr Muzammil, a third doctor linked to the medical college, had rented rooms outside the campus where approximately 2,900 kg of explosives and bomb-making material were seized.Al-Falah University, established in 2014 under the Al-Falah Charitable Trust and granted UGC recognition in 2015, is already facing scrutiny on multiple fronts. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) had earlier flagged serious irregularities in its accreditation claims, leading to two criminal cases of cheating and forgery. The Association of Indian Universities has suspended its membership, stating that the institution “does not appear to be in good standing”.Reacting to the developments, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand issued a statement distancing the university from the accused doctors, saying they were “mere employees” and that the institution has no links with their alleged external activities. The university also condemned what it called “malicious and defamatory” social media campaigns aimed at tarnishing its image. Also Read: Delhi Red Fort Blast: What We Know So Far About the Deadly ExplosionAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
