Veteran Indian Actor Satish Shah Passes Away at 74 Due to Kidney Failure

Renowned Indian actor Satish Shah, celebrated for his iconic comedic roles, passed away on Saturday at the age of 74 due to kidney failure, confirmed filmmaker Ashoke Pandit.

Pandit shared the tragic news, stating, “It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of our dear friend and talented actor Satish Shah. He succumbed to kidney failure around 2:30 PM today. His condition worsened at home, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved. His cremation is scheduled for today. This is a profound loss for the film industry. I had the privilege of working with him on numerous projects. I was returning from Piyush Pandey’s last rites when my family informed me of Satish’s passing.”

Born on June 25, 1951, in Bombay to a Kutchi Gujarati family, Satish Shah was a versatile actor known for his contributions to Indian cinema and television, particularly in comedy. He debuted in the 1978 film Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan and rose to prominence with his memorable role as Municipal Commissioner D'Mello in the 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

Over his illustrious career, Shah featured in over 250 films, including popular titles like Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and Om Shanti Om (2007).
