Bihar Assembly Elections: Voters being suppressed by BJP?

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections has witnessed allegations of voter suppression, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) claiming that attempts were made to prevent electors from casting their votes. According to the party, voters at the Nasirganj Ghat in Danapur constituency faced difficulties as police allegedly stopped boats from reaching the polling booths.

The RJD has urged the Election Commission to investigate the matter and take necessary action. Party spokesperson Priyanka Bharti shared a purported video on social media, highlighting the alleged issues at the polling booth. RJD leader Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, also shared the video, emphasizing the need for vigilance to prevent vote rigging.

This is not the first instance of allegations made by the RJD. Earlier, the party claimed that electricity was being cut off intermittently at strong booths of the Mahagathbandhan, allegedly to slow down the voting process. The party demanded prompt action from the Election Commission, accusing it of "malicious intent" and "malafide intentions."

In another incident, the RJD alleged that police personnel and BJP workers were intimidating voters and assaulting party members at multiple polling booths. The party shared visuals of police officials allegedly entering homes and threatening residents in the Mohiuddinagar Assembly constituency.

However, the Bihar Chief Electoral Office dismissed the allegations, stating that voting was taking place smoothly across the state. The office emphasized that the Election Commission of India was following all standard protocols to ensure a fair, transparent, and uninterrupted voting process.
