Coal India breaks ground with first all-female central store unit at SECL Korba

SECL, a subsidiary of Coal India, has taken a major step towards promoting women's leadership in core industries. The company has launched its first all-women Central Store Unit at its Korba workshop.

This initiative is part of the Government of India's Special Campaign 5.0 and marks a significant milestone in SECL's efforts to promote inclusivity.

The Central Store Unit is managed by a team of eight women officers and staff, led by Senior Manager Sapna Ikka, an alumna of ISM Dhanbad. They will oversee spare parts supply and inventory management using a modern digital platform.

The unit's inauguration was attended by senior officials, who praised the team's efforts. The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of SECL, Harish Duhan highlighted the importance of this initiative, saying it aligns with the government's vision of promoting women's participation in the coal sector.

This achievement builds on SECL's earlier success in establishing an all-women-operated dispensary. The company is committed to empowering women and promoting self-reliance. The initiative also supports the United Nations' goals for gender equality and decent work.

By giving women the responsibility of managing a core division, SECL is changing the face of India's energy and mining workforce. This also shows SECL’s commitment to ‘Nari Shakti Se Rashtra Shakti’
