A heart-wrenching incident of child trafficking has sent shockwaves through the city of Silchar on Children's Day. A newborn baby was allegedly sold by the father and step-mother to a family in Arkatipur, Cachar, for a sum of Rs 40,000.

According to police reports, the mother of the baby had given birth at Silchar Medical College and Hospital and was taken to a rented house in Madhurbandar along with the newborn. The father and step-mother of the baby had pretended to take care of them but instead secretly sold the baby to a family in Arkatipur.

The mother of the baby discovered the truth and filed a complaint with the police, who promptly launched an investigation. The police were able to rescue the baby from Arkatipur and arrested Amir Hussain, a middleman from Madhurbandar, Silchar, who facilitated the sale.

However, the father and step-mother of the baby are currently absconding and a search operation is underway to apprehend them.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Silchar, with many demanding strict action against those involved in the heinous crime. The police have assured that they will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice.
