Teacher arrested for alleged sexual harassment of 5th-Grade student in Cachar

A teacher from 1418 No. Talakha Nutanabasti Primary School in Lakhipur, Cachar district, has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 5th-grade student over a prolonged period.

The accused teacher, identified as Shamim Ahmed, was taken into police custody after the child informed her parents about the repeated harassment. Acting on the complaint, the parents approached the police, leading to his immediate arrest. A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.

Shamim Ahmed has denied the allegations.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage among residents of the area. Locals have demanded strict action and a fair investigation to ensure justice for the victim. Police officials have assured that the matter will be investigated with full seriousness and transparency.
