Assam’s Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain delivered yet another defining moment in her illustrious boxing career, clinching gold at the prestigious BOXAM Elite International 2026 in La Nucia, Alicante, Spain, and spearheading India’s dominant run at the global tournament.

The Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist looked in complete command throughout the competition and stamped her authority in the women’s 75 kg final, defeating England’s Mary-Kate Smith 4–1 with a composed, tactically sharp performance that underlined her experience at the highest level.

Lovlina’s triumph came amid a resounding overall success for the Indian contingent, which emerged as the most successful nation at the meet. India wrapped up its campaign with an impressive 19 medals, including nine gold, three silver and seven bronze, signalling the growing depth and consistency of the country’s boxing programme on the international stage.

The final day of the tournament proved especially memorable for India, with boxers securing three gold and three silver medals to seal a commanding finish. In the women’s category, India’s dominance was absolute — the country featured in seven Elite finals and went on to win gold in all seven bouts. The 54 kg division even witnessed an all-Indian title clash, highlighting the strength of the national pool.

Lovlina’s victory stood out not just for the medal, but for the manner in which it was achieved. Calm under pressure and clinical in execution, she controlled the tempo of the bout and used her reach and ring intelligence to neutralise her opponent, reinforcing her reputation as one of India’s most reliable performers on the world stage.

The BOXAM Elite International 2026 drew participation from more than 200 boxers representing 20 nations, making it a highly competitive platform ahead of major global events.
