Champions of the world: Indian Women's Cricket team makes history!

In a historic moment for Indian cricket, the Indian women's team has lifted the coveted ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 trophy, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final match held at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium. Unstoppable Indian Women

The Indian team, fuelled by exceptional performances, set a target of 299 runs for South Africa to chase. However, the South African team could only manage 246 runs, falling short by 52 runs. Shafali Verma was the star of the final, and was rightfully named Player of the Final. All-rounder Deepti Sharma's outstanding performance throughout the tournament earned her the Player of the Tournament award.

Historic win and recognition

With this victory India becomes the fourth women's cricket team in history to win the World Cup, joining the ranks of Australia, England, and New Zealand. The Indian women's team has definitely made the nation proud!

Rewards

The Indian women's team earned a prize money of ₹40 crore for winning the World Cup. In recognition of their historic achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a special cash reward of ₹125 crore for the team, as announced by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to congratulate the Indian team on their historic win. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli also showered praise on the team, hailing them as "unstoppable." The victory has sparked celebrations across the country, with fans and well-wishers congratulating the team on their remarkable achievement.
