RCB Take on Delhi Capitals in WPL Final Today

This will be the second time that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will face-off in the Women premier league (WPL) final when they collide on Thursday, February 5 at Kotambi stadium at 7.30 PM IST. The toss will be done at 7 PM IST.

Their first meeting came in New Delhi on March 17, 2024, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where RCB, led by Smriti Mandhana, brings home their maiden title by crushing DC by 8 wickets. The brilliant three-wicket burst was provided by Sophie Molineux that got her to win the Player of the Match award after turning the game in favour of RCB.

That 2024 final saw DC make the first strike by batting first and opening with a partnership of 64 runs by openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning. Nonetheless, in the eighth over, Molineux cast magic and the match turned the other way around. She dismissed Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey one after another, leaving DC in disarray. There, the spinners of RCB loosened their grip, and Shreyanka Patil and Asha Sobhana shared four and two wickets respectively and bowled DC out in 18.3 overs only.

RCB never had a chance to be threatened by the chase in spite of the consistent bowling of DC Shikha Pandey, Marizanne Kapp and Capsey. Their side also had significant 30-plus contributions made by Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine to guide their side towards victory. DC, in the meantime, was a runner-up in the second season in a row.

RCB and DC have played at least nine matches in nine seasons of WPL (2024 final). Delhi is currently ahead by the head-to-head with six wins and three wins by RCB. In the current 2026 season, the two teams had divided their league stage clashes, each having a win.

DC, led by Jemimah Rodrigues, will be hoping to challenge the title with the help of the opening batters Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt, and Marizanne Kapp and Chinelle Henry.
